12/26: Happy Holidays!

Dear Internet,

Happy holidays, everyone! More importantly, happy after-finals season!!

I was prepared to be so relieved after finals, but unfortunately, I am not. I had to get an emergency incomplete for mental health stuff for one of my finals, so I still have stuff due soon. I sure do love the ever-spinning wheel of assignments and projects college gifts me!

I gotta be grateful, though. I really do like being in college. Even apart from the whole "I'm grateful that I get to access this sort of education". I love living in a walkable neighborhood. I love interacting with people my age. I love my friends, their friends, the web of connections I have. I love playing rugby here. I love participating in advocacy groups on campus. I love the parties. I love having so many spaces to study and do work in. I love being able to create my own schedule. I love college!

I'm really looking towards next semester, though. I'm taking some really interesting classes. I'm taking Human Origins, which is one of the requirements for my anthropology major. From what I understand it's about human evolution and more of the biology of humans instead of the culture and stuff. I really like the culture stuff but I know bio is important :P I'm also taking Intro to Communication Studies, as a requirement for my communications major, even though I've been studying it for 3 semesters!! It'll be good for me, though. A class that may kill me is Intro to Computer Science... I really want to get my math requirement done and I'm slightly interested in coding... so pray for me, lol. I'm also taking a class called Philsophy and Morality. It's probably going to break my mind and heart, but hey, isn't that what college is for? The last class I'm taking is a half credit class called The Artist's Way. It's supposed to be for hobbyist artists who can't find time to do art during college but don't want to take the 4 hour studio art classes. Which describes me perfectly.

I haven't been doing a lot of art lately. It sucks, but I'm doing a self-led art intensive for Winter Term, so I'll be able to make more art, and mostly importantly, improve my art. I made a WT diary on my projects page to document my progress over the month of January, so be on the lookout for that (starting Jan 3rd)!

Anyways, I don't plan on writing a weblog before 2025, so I guess I should get my New Year's resolutions out of the way now...

★ Go to the gym more often
★ Grow my hair out (mullet?)
★ Start giving my friends and family the benefit of the doubt
★ Actually start studying, try out different study methods
★ Do more research and personal projects on my own time

I think my goals are pretty solid, I can feasibly get them done within 2025. My biggest goal to accomplish is the gym rat one, because I really really need to get in shape for rugby. I lost 30lbs in the past few months, which is great, but I'm still technically overweight and I know for a fact that I have little to no muscle mass. My goals in the gym are to get to a healthy weight, and gain muscle mass in my arms and abs. But I also want to work on my running stamina because that's important for rugby. But I also need to be a wall of muscle!! I have too many goals for the gym. I think I'll sort it out, though.

Everything eventually sorts itself out in my life, either through someone else's or my own unconscious efforts. That's what I take for granted in my life. I think my last New Year's resolution will be to be more thankful.

Well, time to get back to my last final. Here's a song I've been listening to recently to leave you with:

Stay frosty!
